Crisis!!!!!!

Mid life editing crisis
We have recently hit a problem with the footage we have gathered. The footage for the intro and the footage for the band were filmed with two different camera's. This ment that the filming settings were different and in result the capture dimensions were different sizes. The first camera we used to film was set to film in 1280x720 whereas when we came to film the band footage  the media department has purchased two new top of the range camera's which were canon t3's. At the time we didn't realize what the setting was set on and we filmed the footage in 1920x1080 which is completely different to the other footage dimensions. This is where we started to panic because we couldn't physically go back and refilm any of the footage due to the lack of time and actors so i decided to research into finding a way how to reduce the size of each frame so they would be the same size and I found this video.
By following this video i was able to resize the scale of each clip of both sets of footage so they would match up to each other. This was very time consuming. I had to change the scale of each clip. The band footage had to be scaled down to 63% whilst the footage in the field had to to be scaled down to 34%.

What I have learned from this
  • I have learned to be me more organised and check the settings before filming to see if the camera is set to the correct setting as it will save a lot of time when coming to edit the footage.
  • Try to use the same camera throughout the whole of the project so that you can ensure the footage will be the same size and also the same quality.
