Storyboard 1

What is a story board?
"a sequence of drawings, typically with some directions and dialogue, representing the shots planned for a film, television production or a music video"

Here is the story board for the first minute of our video. The storyboard includes details about each shot. We tried to include as much information as we thought was needed which would help us with our filming.
we Included:
  • length of each shot
  • type of editing being used
  • type of shot
  • what will be going on within the shot
  • camera movement
We have storyboarded each minute as we thought it would be beneficial to do each minute of the video as there is a lot going on within the video. This storyboard is for the opening minute of out video where there is no music as we wanted to introduce the narrative. The narrative is following a soldier who is currently on the run. His whole platoon has been killed and now he is the only one left. The picture plays the most vital role to the narrative as it sets up the rest of the video as we are planning for there to be flashbacks back to the man's past which then unfolds his past to the audience and also they get to discover why he is being chased.

I think by doing the story board the way we are doing is more beneficial as it allows us to focus one certain parts of the music video which then we are able to put It all together in a final storyboard or we can combine the minutes together. By creating a storyboard, has allowed us too plan out each individual shot and focus more on the narrative and also the division between both the narrative and the live band playing. Every time we shoot footage we take our storyboard with us as it helps us decide what shots we need to gett as well as others which we haven't storyboarded. I believe without a storyboard our video wouldn't be very successful so I am pleased that we spent the time storyboarding.
